Â
We help organisations reduce waste costs and build practical, circular systems that work in the real world. From boardroom strategy, to robust procurement to on-the-ground implementation where materials are handled, BC Consulting designs, pilots, and scales waste avoidance, reuse, recycling and programs across various sectors, including property, retail, logistics, education, Councils and Government.
Â
Meet Belinda âBelâ Chellingworth -Â Founder & Principal Consultant
From bush kid to circular operator.
Â
Bel grew up on bushland acreage on Darug Country in Western Sydney, where rainwater tanks taught her early that resources are finite - when the tank ran low, that was it. She spent her childhood dodging snakes, marvelling at tadpoles and perfecting spider-catching skills. Those early experiences hardâwired a love of nature (and an early dream of ZookeepingâŚor just being a mermaid).
Â
Education and first career steps.
Â
Bel studied Science (Biodiversity) and worked at Taronga Zoo, caring for animals and educating the public. She quickly connected the circular dots between the man-made worldâs impact on the natural one; litter, deforestation and precious metal mining, to name a few, which further cemented her circular mindset. She continued her involvement in environmental education and tourism, travelling independently to every continent, and developed a global perspective on sustainability and corporate responsibility.
Into the world of waste - understanding the hidden work that happens
Â
Bel became obsessed with reducing âwasteâ (materials in the wrong place) and wanted to understand everything that happens after the bin is collected. She worked out of depots and among trucks and skip bins in operational and education roles for the City of Sydney, the Borough of Haringey (UK) and Veolia UK - handsâon with community, at dropâoffs for batteries, oil, Ewaste, clothing â and worked with in a materials recovery facility (MRF), the plant that sorts household recycling.
That grounded experience led to circular-economy leadership positions, at times when these roles were emerging, at the London School of Economics, The GPT Group, Australia Post, and ALDI Australia.
Â
Bel doesnât sit in the âIvory Towerâ or assumes â she is hands on and finds out.
Bel draws on her unique experience, and still lives for a site walk and engages everywhere from the boardroom, to procurement to the loading dock - to make circularity work in practice. Colleagues know she doesnât assume; she gets out there to find out.

How we can work together
We are committed to being the change we'd like to see.
From car sharing, to using a KeepCup to maintaining a 'circular wardrobe' â we implement best practice in our operations to keep ourselves accountable, learn the ropes, be able to empathise with our clients, and inspire others to embrace the principles of circularity.
It is addictive!
Bel has also systematically reduced her landfill footprint over the years, and now only produces <1kg per quarter for consumables.
Â
Influencing beyond the desk, distribution centre or dock
Bel blends her passion for waste avoidance with her community pursuits, acting as the Chief Sustainability Officer for the Bondi Surf Girl Riders and Sydney Alterna Choir.
