School Waste - Lessons, Programs & Projects

Would you like a curriculum aligned, engaging, and interactive lesson for your students on waste?

Do you need a mentor for your student green team?

Bel has spent two decades turning the wonderful and perplexing world of waste into light-bulb moments for young people. The approach I bring to every School

Bel has over twenty years of environmental education experience, including teaching teenagers at Taronga Zoo, Auseco, the London School of Economics, Haringey Council - London and a global waste and recycling company, Veolia.

She is also a sought-after speaker in the media, appearing regularly on television, and on her regular ABC Radio program, 'Waste Not Want Not'.

How Bel can help your school:

  • Curriculum-aligned and age-appropriate: we tailor content to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) outcomes and the local context
  • No-shame, yes-action: students leave knowing exactly what to do next—at school and at home.
  • Real-world and hands-on: from the classroom to the canteen and playground - on the ground where materials are handled.

Green Team mentoring

We coach student leaders (and their teachers) to set goals, run mini‑audits and turn posters into practice.

Whole‑school waste program

A short, focused sprint to design and launch your school’s system. We begin with a quick review of your hotspots, then co-create a simple plan: bin standards and signage, canteen adjustments, FOGO setup, staff and student communications, and support working with your waste and recycling collection contractors.

We engaged Bel to support us on project planning, strategy, communications and training to compliment our service delivery. As a local operator, with a commitment to customer satisfaction, it’s important that our consultants align with our business values and can deliver independently.

We could rely on Bel to couple her extensive knowledge of the property and recovery industries to deliver tailored advice, which will be effective in operations.

About Bel (your facilitator)

I grew up on bushland in Western Sydney, where I learned early that resources are finite (hello, rainwater tanks), and have over twenty years' environmental education experience. I have a BSc Biodiversity and Conservation from Macquarie University, and experience working directly in the recycling industry.

Today, I bring that same curiosity and care to every School – facts and fun!
